How to Change the Watch Battery in a Screw-Back Watch Case

Step 1. To open a screw back case it is best to use a Screw Back Removing Tool.

Step 2. Use the knurled wheel in the centre of the tool to adjust the distance between the two teeth of the Screw Back Removing Tool until they fit snuggly into two opposing indents on the watch back.

Step 4. Once the back has loosened off it is easier to continue to unscrew it using your fingers rather than the tool.

Step 8. Once the old battery has been removed, insert the new battery into the battery compartment trying to avoid touching the faces of the battery. Plastic tweezers can be useful for this part of the process. Press the battery into place.

Step 9. Check that the watch is working - if not check the section on Problems afer replacing new battery. If the watch is working you can now replace the watch back. Place the watch back on to the watch case, making sure that you don't trap the o-ring seal between the watch back and the case and screw it in a clockwise direction.
