How to Close a Snap Back Watch Case
Step 1. Most snap back cases have a small indent to allow for the winder shaft. When replacing the case back be sure that the indent on the cover lines with the winder.
Step 2. With the case lined up with the back, push down on the watch case back using both thumbs to apply even pressure to the case edge, making sure that one side
doesn't get pushed further in than the other.
Step 3. Some case backs are tight and won't click in easily. The best way to deal with this is to place the watch face down on a flat protected surface - a mouse
mat is ideal - and position a small, flat object, such as a piece of wood, across the back of the case and press down to try to give even pressure across the whole of the
case back. Press down until the back clicks into position.
Step 4. If this still fails to get the cover back, then you may need to use a case press:
This is a vice which comes with dies, one of which will fit over watch glass protecting it when the vice is tightened, and the other matches the size of the watch back allowing
an even pressure to be applied over the whole of the watch back. If you have a vice at home you may be able to improvise something which would give you a similar effect or you
can purchase a back press from us. We can offer a small back press for occasional use or the large back press for frequent use.
Step 5. To use a back press select a die that will support the whole of the watch face and postion this on the bottom pin of the back press.
Select another die that is approximately the same size as the watch case back and screw this on to the bottom of the part of the back press which can be screwed down.
Step 6. Place the watch face down on the bottom die.
Step 7. Holding the watch case in position lower the upper die down on to the watch back by screwing the vice in a clockwise direction. Slowly tighten the back press
until the back clicks into position. Sometimes you will feel a slight click as the case closes, but often the case will close with out any sensation, so check carefully to
make sure that you don't over tighten the vice and damage the watch.
Step 8. Once the back has clipped back into position realease the pressure by widing the handle in an anti-cloclwise direction and remove the watch.
