How to Remove the Watch Battery from a Watch with a Plastic Surround

Step 1. Many watches have a plastic surround that holds the watch movement in place in the watch case. In some watches you can remove the battery with the plastic surround in place, but in some watches you will need to remove it to take the battery out.

Step 2. The plastic surround can be lifted out of the watch case using the end of a screwdriver or spring bar removal tool. Place the surround somewhere safe as you will need to replace it later.

Step 3. In many watches the battery is held in the battery compartment by a spring clip. This can be gently eased to one side, using your fingernail or the end of the plastic tweezers. Gently draw the clip away from the battery, and the battery will pop out of the battery compartment.
